The work can be completed at the same time and npower can quote for the removal of the older parts.

It is important that a site survey is completed to accurately identify all the elements of the installation to ensure that the quote is accurate. When you are ready npower are able to send a Home Energy Consultant to your home to review the installation options and also help to select the right boiler for your home. This visit is free with no-obligations on your part and will also enable an accurate quotation to be developed for a new boiler.

I am in the process of buying my council house. When the sale has been completed one of the first jobs is to replace the boiler.

I'm interested in a combi boiler and wondered if the installation charges cover the removal of the the old hot water tank and unnecessary pipework. There are also some pipes that are less than optimally placed which if possible I would like re-sited. Can this be done as an "all in one" job or would i need a separate plumber to do the job?

It is very difficult to diagnose central heating systems remotely, particularly on the limited diagnostic information available.
If you have taken out a boiler service contract you should telephone the helpline number you have been provided with and an engineer will call to help remedy your problem. If you have not taken out any boiler service agreement npower have a gas boiler repair service which could help. If you telephone them and explain your issue you will be provided with a no obligation fixed quote for fixing the problem.

It sounds as though you have a very problematic boiler as you should not expect faults like that after only 5 years. It is hard to know whether you should replace the boiler or not as we cannot predict its future reliability and the new components should operate correctly.

If you decide that you are going to replace the boiler npower are able to send a Home Energy Consultant to your home to review the installation options and help to select the right boiler for your home. This visit is free with no-obligations on your part and will also enable an accurate quotation to be developed for a new boiler.

We doubt that you would be able but, as it is such a specific question, it is worth asking the manufacturer for a final opinion. Worcester Bosch have a technical helpline which you can call on 08705 266241.

As far as they are aware no fanned flue can go up through an old chimney or connect on to an existing flue as the old flue would be open and the new flues are room sealed, fanned and considerably smaller.

If you wish to have a second perspective upon this you can contact the manufacturer,Worcester, direct to confirm this point for you.

Hi
Answer 2 states floor standing condensing boilers are fanned and must locate against an exterior wall but answer 8 states that condensing combi boilers can link to a vertical flue on an interior wall. Can a Greenstar Highflow 440 be linked directly into a standard flue as in a lined ex-chimney?

Chas - we would have sent you an email but the email address you provided was incorrect.

As per the frequently asked questions on the site it would be guesswork to quote a price without reviewing the property as the price includes the full installation costs. It is important to ensure that the right type of boiler is selected to meet the needs of your family and that the power rating is matched to your needs. npower would not wish to indicate a low quotation cost and then increase this as any installation challenges were identified.

npower are able to send a Home Energy Consultant to your home to review the installation options and help to confirm the right boiler for your home. This visit is free with no-obligations on your part and will also enable an accurate quotation to be developed for a new boiler.
